Kathryn Williamson graduated in Design & Craft from Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, in 1987. Following several years working as a designer / production manager for various London based companies, launched her own jewellery collection in late 2000. Since then she has exhibited her work widely across the UK, including annually from her home base, as part of the Pittenweem Arts Festival.
Kathryn Williamson jewellery has evolved from an interest in the textural quality of silver and the simple sculptural shapes of found objects. The finished jewellery combines a creative use of colour and harmony with a consistently high standard of workmanship to achieve simple, clean and highly wearable designs.
New work is strongly influenced by Pittenweem beach pebble finds. The seemingly unconnected nature of the pattern has led to a renewed interest in an eclectic array of pattern, from Japanese origami to 70s coffee sets. These elements are currently being explored through photoetching, enamel, paper and beach pebbles in silver.
